Calving continues at Ardcairnie Angus with all the heifers now calved and about 40 cows to still produce their little ones by mid-July. Numbers of males and females fluctuates (as always) and in the end, there’s usually fairly equal numbers.
Feeding of all six mobs has continued – hay for the cows and calves, pellets for the calved heifers, the weaner heifers, the weaner bulls and a few steers, the sale and keeper two year old bulls and the herd bulls.
Half an inch of rain in the third week of June kept the grass growing in all 85 paddocks on Maybenup; dams still need that big rainfall event so fingers crossed for good winter rains.
One of the new arrivals decided to get a closer look at the ute while some of his friends looked on in the background on a lovely afternoon in early June. Jim is in the background being watched carefully by one of the new mothers.
